Vega Montanez, born in New York City and raised in Providence, Rhode Island is a momentous force flowing through the film and television industry. In the past two years, Vega has worked in various positions on nine feature films while writing over two dozen scripts in the past 18 months. The first film from the Dominican director, “The Hurt We Share,” was purchased by Dame Dash Studios and streaming on Tubi and Vega is set to release three more films within the next nine to 12 months, including “A Quiet Road”, “Nico”, and “The Burden of Nine Lives,” which recently wrapped production in New York this past April.
Vega’s passion and determination to tell stories about the human experience that impact the spiritual and emotional cores of us all coupled with a love for entertaining the world through high adrenaline visuals have been the driving force behind his creative success. Growing up under privileged and never having attended film school, Vega moves gracefully when it comes to problem-solving with limited resources. Vega has achieved numerous successes throughout his career with, “The Hurt We Share,” earning him over 12 awards internationally before being purchased for distribution. Since 2021, he has been hired to write, direct, or produce over 25 films, shows, and commercials and before film Vega was nominated for an Independent Music Award for his album, “Self.”
Additionally, He’s currently working on launching the Latino Film Club, which is a growing resource for Latino filmmakers like himself to get their foot in the door. In the early days of his career, Vega did a lot of free work to enter the industry and learn what he needed while building the relationships that sustain his career today. Vega believes that when walking into any room or environment, the goal should be to make an impact and be memorable. You don’t have to be the smartest or the best, you just need to be unforgettable.
